When you reappeared Like a puff of frozen breath in the air, It was then I was sure you were there Suspended in eternity you kissed me, You were with me. And you told me How the world had become so strange, Everything was rearranged, Like the movement of the sun and moon had changed. And you said, "Now I know, If only I could show you." Just today I noticed that the birds had flown away, The leaves were gone, The winter sky had turned to grey As if everything that's visible conceals you, But I still feel you. "Now I know, If only I could show you."

Three Trees 03:33
Over the hill there's a meadow That runs along this dusty road, Tall grass and a broken fence, All that's left of a dairy farm from long ago. And standing in the distance In the middle of the tall grass Is our favorite place, there in the shade of ... Three trees, that's place where we will meet. Oh-oh-oh oh. Your daddy had you check up on your brother Always loafing at the family store, "It shouldn't be a minute." But you always get caught up in in it As soon as you walk through the door ... Three trees, that's place where we will meet. Oh-oh-oh oh. A silent cloud floats high above this afternoon But there's no sign of you, my love. Shadows grow across the field I'm all alone when suddenly there you appear, Smiling and apologizing, I watch the way you move as you come near. And the words that you speak, I cannot hear, all I can think is will you marry me? Run away with me to ... Three trees, that's place where we will meet. Oh-oh-oh oh.

Here comes the story of Mr. Flashin' Fashion He comes a cashin' down the avenue, He takes time to scope out the action, He takes aim, he's pointin' at you. Hey Mister who's your buddy, Who's your buddy now? Hey Mister who's your buddy, Who's your buddy now? Can you find him somehow? Now Flashin's sittin' in a parking lot He looks so funny when he whines and dines, And you can tell he give it all he got And he will tell you that he's doing fine. Hey Mister who's your buddy, Who's your buddy now? Hey Mister who's your buddy, Who's your buddy now? Can you lose it somehow? He takes a walk down memory lane Some of the neighbors make him run and hide, And he don't wanna open up that door No, he don't wanna know who's there inside. Hey Mister who's your buddy, Who's your buddy now? Hey Mister who's your buddy, Who's your buddy now? Can ya find her somehow? He set his eye wherever he want to He suck the marrow right out the bone He leave it all high and lonely Now look who's feeling all alone. Hey Mister who's your buddy, Who's your buddy now? Hey Mister who's your buddy, Who's your buddy now? Did ya lose her somehow? somehow. There goes the story of Mr. Flashin' Fashion He goes a crashin' down the avenue.

Patch of Sky 02:37
It's only just a patch of sky Stars twinklin' beyond, A little patch of sky A cloud rolls and it's gone. I'm not dreamin' & I'm not schemin', it's gone. Broken by a promise made He stumbles on his way again, Maybe in another life Well it might have been. LORD knows, LORD knows. Just another patch of sky Clouds break and it's back again, But only for a little while Every now and then. I'm not dreamin' & I'm not schemin', it took too long, so long.

Ghost Town 03:26
The sign on the avenue Says DO YOU REMEMBER? Voices are callin' you, Singing sweet surrender. You shuffle down the empty street Grooving to a mystery beat Getting lost in the morning heat You're comin' down in a ghost town. Feel the spirits rising, Circle 'round, make your head spin The earth below you's crying out The sky above is closing in on a ghost town. You know you can't go back You know you lost the track Why try? Why lie to yourself? It's just a ghost town. You dream of the faces Listen for their long lost words Promises in far off places Time will only make it worse. Now the shadows ar growing The street's aglow in the silver moon The shadows are stirring The church bells ring their tune in a ghost town.

Friday afternoon Couldn't come too soon I'll be heading out the building Just whistling a tune So like a tried to tell you Once or twice before If I'm already gone Leave me a note outside the door. Delivery man Always seem to catch me in a rush And I'm bristling with energy And wishing that he'd hush I don't wanna sign nothin', Don't care who it's for, Just forget ya saw me Leave the package outside the door. Oooo baby when I'm sometimes feelin' low I don't look at nobody, don't even say hello, I guess I left my best side at the bedside again And I may never raise a smile till I see you again. Driving up to meet you It's feeling like a dream I'm going through the red lights, Stopping at the green I better get a handle, better get a grip Before I'm rollin' down my window To a cop outside the door. Oooo baby now don't be too surprised If you ever see my bad side, the one I try to hide, I know you're gonna find it, the question's only when But I may never raise a smile if I don't see you again. Straight ahead I see your place shining in the night I drive a little faster Now I'm feeling alright Pull up a little closer Couldn't ask for more There's an empty parking space For me outside the door. Now you'll be relaxing Slippers on the floor A cup of tea in hand Watching channel four & then you'll hear my knock Like so many times before And there you'll find me waiting for you Outside the door.

Baby's gone away for good Baby's gone away for good Baby's gone away for good Somehow you knew she would. Well crying don't do no good Denying it don't do no good You're heart is in a sling You're despising everything Maybe time will do you good. Baby's gone away for good Baby's gone away for good Baby's gone away for good Somehow you knew she would. Well stalling don't do no good Calling it wrong don't do no good You thought you gave your all & the pieces they did fall Only none of them like they should. When you feel the winter hour getting longer & the cold wind's biting your face, When hear that lonely whistle calling Then you think about the dream you wanna chase, Ohhh ... (music break) When you hear that lonely whistle calling Where the avenue is turning up ahead, When your tear stained summer's getting longer Then you think about the things that you said, Ohhh ... Baby's gone away for good Baby's gone away for good Baby's gone away & away she's gonna stay She left you standing right where you stood.

Two Leaves 03:47
You hold me in your arms like a frightened child Like a frightened child I cling to you Waiting for the day when we awake When we-ee awake to a world that's new. Hold on, hold on But for you I'm gone But for you & your love I could not hold on. In the Spring we were born Only days apart & right from the start I loved you so. Hold on, hold on But for you I'm gone But for you & your love I could not hold on. And the wind will blow Till we let go ... Till we-ee let go of the life we know.

When I get home (when i get home) When I get home (when i get home) When I get home (when i get home) When I get ... home.
10.
Go on pick off the tab, man & save me the last can Yeah buddy that's my plan When I get home. No I don't wanna go there 'Cause I already been here Where there's no one who cares When I go on. When I get home, When I get home ... I will belong. Well I already told her, Never meant to scold her Only wanted to hold her When I get home. When I get home, ... I will gone. And there'll be no more heartaches And there'll be no more rough takes With nothing to borrow & no one to own. And there'll be no more sorrows And there'll be no more holy rolls, We all know what it means to belong. When we get home, When we get home, When we get home, Then we belong. Then we belong. & there'll be no more sweet lies, & there'll be no more sad sighs, Gonna see it with new eyes When I get ... home.

I Flew Away 02:40
I went away So you can say I wasn't here when you were here, I go away sometimes, I go away. If you were here & I was near & didn't give a word you say Then I would pay, don't wanna pay I run away. You won the argument You already know & there's nothing to do or say, You won the argument & it's time to go It's past time for me anyway. When you were near & I was clear & every word that appeared Was out of fear, out of fear I flew away. What can I say? I went away Now every story you play Has come to stay, come the day I went away. (music break) I went away So you can say That every word that I play Has gone astray, so astray I went away.
12.
It's not the frame It's not the frame The frame that I'm in, Though it's poor & pitiful & plain. But it's what hangs inside That covers my eyes In tears of sorrow & shame. When the night falls down & the wind hangs low Your voice I hear once again, Calling me to your side But I run & hide At the sound of my own name. I have walked this road 'Kicked against the goads' Been wrong before & back again. But I will rest my eyes Upon the midnight sky & dream a dream that remains.

"Are you ready witchya make-up on? come on, honey, let's go. Are you ready witchya make-up on? come on, we gotta hit the road." She turned around & looked at me, That was all she said. And that was a rich obstacle. (music break) "Don't ya 'member what I done for you, you better for sure! Don't ya 'member whatcha done for me?" while I'm headed out the door. I turned around & looked at her, That was all I said. And that was a rich obstacle. Now... that was a rich obstacle.

about

This is my 2nd album recorded at the historic SugarHill Recording Studios in Houston, Texas. Engineered and co-produced by Andy Bradley. Released on 3/31/14. There's a lot of musical diversity from track to track. I tried to make a record that's listenable as an album, not just a collection of songs. Thanks to all who helped me make this record, and thank-you for listening.
